Hayya Card Qatar: How To Apply (Updated 2024)

Doha Guides Team regularly reviews this article to ensure the content is up-to-date and accurate. The last editorial review and update were on 02 February 2024.

During the FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar introduced a mandatory Fan ID called the Hayya Card to facilitate entry for international and local fans. Through Hayya’s online platform, over a million visitors obtained Hayya Cards during the tournament.

In 2023, the Hayya portal was rebranded and upgraded with additional features to become a unified platform for all tourist and business visas to Qatar. Visitors who require a visa to enter Qatar can apply through the Hayya platform, which now offers several visa types.

This article will discuss everything you need to know about the Hayya Card, including the requirements and step-by-step process on how to apply for different types of visas on the Hayya portal.

Hayya Card Latest Updates

  • 20 December 2023 Update: Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has announced the extension of the validity of Hayya visa for fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The last date of entry for visa holders will be February 10, 2024. The last date of stay in Qatar will be February 24, 2024.
  • As of December 2024, “Hayya With Me (C)” is still suspended for some nationalities such as India, Pakistan, Nigeria, etc. Nationals of these countries can apply for other types of Hayya visas such as Tourist Visas (A1).
  • Visitors from these countries, with previously approved Hayya With Me (C) Entry Permits can still enter the country.
  • In the last few weeks, there is a delay in the approval of Hayya Visas. Some applicants who contacted the Hayya helpline regarding the delay were advised that if they wish, they can cancel their old application and submit a new one (if it has been more than 14 days). To cancel your application, you need to send a request to [email protected].
  • After the cancellation, you can file a new visa application. Some applicants were approved after reapplying. It’s important to note that this is only a suggestion from the Hayya helpline (not a requirement). Please double-check with the Hayya helpline before proceeding with the cancellation. DohaGuides is not responsible for application delays or changes in Hayya policies.

What is Hayya Card?

Hayya Visa Requirements

The following are the requirements to apply for a Hayya Card Visa:

1. Passport

  • The scanned file should be in JPG or JPEG format and less than 2 MB.
  • The Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) code should be visible. Otherwise, the application will be rejected.

2. Accommodation

Visitors arriving in Qatar using a Hayya visa must confirm their accommodation plans. Accommodation requirements vary according to the type of visa you are applying. There are exceptions for some visa categories and nationalities.

Hosting by Family and Friends is allowed for most Hayya visas. A Qatar resident should register his property on the Hayya portal and add international guests to it. This should be done before the applicant submits his Hayya application. A Qatar resident can invite up to 5 guests to his property.

If there is no Qatar resident to host a visitor, hotel reservations can also be made from hotels or through platforms like TripAdvisor. In some cases, hotel bookings through the Discover Qatar website may be required.

If you are staying in a hotel, accommodation details including proof of booking, should be uploaded to the “Upload Other Platforms Booking” page on the Hayya portal.

A visitor should have his accommodation details, including his address in Qatar, and the host’s contact information or hotel’s information, available before travel.

4. Residence Permit or Visa (in some cases)

If you are applying for a GCC Resident Visa (A2), Visa with ETA (A3), or Visa for Companion of GCC citizen (A4) you will need to upload your Residence Permit Card or Residence Visa to the Hayya platform. The RP Card or Visa should also be valid during entry to Qatar.

5. Visa Fee (if applicable)

Some types of visas under the Hayya platform, such as Tourist Visas, GCC Resident Visas, Visas with ETA etc. require a visa fee (some nationalities are exempt). Hayya With Me is issued free of cost but requires a valid voucher code.

In addition to the passport, residence card, and accommodation details, the following are also required during travel:

6. Hayya Entry Permit

Once your Hayya application is approved, you will receive a Hayya Entry Permit with all your details. The Entry Permit is required during entry into Qatar.

7. Return Flight Ticket

Almost all types of visas under the Hayya platform require a return flight ticket during entry. This is not required if the visitor is coming by land border.

8. Health Insurance

According to Qatar Government policy, a visitor staying for more than 30 days is required to obtain a visitor’s health insurance through a MOPH-approved provider. Basic insurance policies cost QR 50 for 30 days. This need not be taken during the Hayya application stage but should be shown during entry.

In the case of a Hayya With Me (C) visa, health insurance is mandatory. For other types of visas, insurance is highly encouraged, but only mandatory if staying for more than 30 days.

No, your Hayya application should be fully approved and you should receive your Entry Permit. Otherwise, you will not be allowed entry into the State of Qatar.

Hayya, which is an entry permit to Qatar is not a work visa. Officials have clarified that you cannot directly convert a Hayya entry permit to a work permit.

Hi, You can create a new Hayya account with a new email id. However applying new visa for the same passport number from different email ids may not work.

  1. I am unable to upload the first and last page of passport, as it is giving error that unable to extract the data. (Paspport Last name is empty)
Anyone pleaes guide how to upload the document.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Arshad, Extract data will only work if you upload front page only. In your case you did the right thing by uploading both pages (because you don’t have last name). Even if extract data does not work, you can manually enter the data.

      1. Dear Doha Guides Team, Thank you for the reply.
I tried to edit also manually, but when we edit the data and proceed for validate user, it again giving the same error, to upload both page.

        1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Arshad, Usually this works for everyone (and is recommended by Hayya helpline). Don’t know why you are facing an error. Try clearing the browser cache, rename the file and apply again. Also passport type should be selected as “Normal”. If nothing works please contact Hayya Support at [email protected] or (+974) 4441 2022.

  2. Hello,

Just needed to confirm if A1 visas need medical insurance since the stay is only 30 days. I had enquired with 2022 and they said it is not needed, however, some people said that they were asked for it and certain people couldn’t travel from the country of departure due to this. I am not sure if this information is true, but is there any confirmation available regarding this doubt?

And as for the ones with already approved hayya such as the international hayya ticket holders, while visiting qatar now, I was not able to find any option to get a PDF of the visa. It was only available on the app. Is there any option to get it downloaded so that we could carry the hard copy document?

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Najad, (1) Regarding the insurance, the policy is that health insurance is “recommended” for all visitors (even if staying for less than 30 days), however it is “compulsory” if staying for 30 days. Unfortunately this is not clearly mentioned on the official websites and hence this confusion. Even on the MOPH website’s FAQ page it says insurance is mandatory for all visitors (doesn’t mention about 30 days). Hence most airlines are asking for insurance. Either you can purchase in advance and be tension-free or you can purchase online on your mobile phone if your airline insists that.
      (2) Regarding Entry Permit, earlier Hayya platform had sent updated Entry Permit PDF to all by email. If you can’t find them in your inbox, check spam folder. If it is still not there you can contact Hayya helpline and they will send you another one.

  3. A1 and A3 Hayya, Pakistani, stuck at pending for 4 weeks. Huqoomi say to contact Hayya. Hayya give the general wait it out. Any Indian Pakistani got approval of any applied Sept end?

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Kas, Some applicants who contacted the Hayya helpline regarding the delay were advised that if they wish, they can cancel their old application and submit a new one (if it has been more than 14 days). To cancel your application, you need to send a request to [email protected]. After the cancellation, you can file a new visa application. Some applicants were approved after reapplying. It’s important to note that this is only a suggestion from the Hayya helpline (not a requirement). Please double-check with the Hayya helpline before proceeding with the cancellation. DohaGuides is not responsible for application delays or changes in Hayya policies.

    2. I had applied for two of my relatives. Both got rejected a few times due to not providing names as per hayya guidelines. But within two days of applying first, I received both approved. All the rejection and updating happened during the span of two days and it was quick. So I guess they ll get into it and hopefully you will have a good news soon or maybe you already have it approved!

  4. hi
my indian mother is in Qatar in Hayya card. is it necessary to exit Qatar n come back in tourist visa A1 after Jan 24?or can apply for any Visa( including visit visa)when she s here in Qatar. pls clarify.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Begum, You can try applying Family Visit Visa on Metrash. If you get an error that person already inside country, then she has to exit before you apply. If the application goes through and gets approved you have to change visa type. Currently Immigration doesn’t allow visa change for Hayya inside the country. If they don’t allow you then the next option is to exit to Saudi border and come back. If you are applying Hayya Tourist Visa, she has to be outside Qatar.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi, You can request Hayya team for that. But there is no guarantee that a newer application will be approved faster.

  5. Hi,
Just want to clarify, if you have an application for Hayya Visit visa A1 in process, Can you still enter Qatar with VOA or do we need to wait till decision is made regarding the A1 visa application?

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Shivam, As far as we know (from the experience of others) you can enter using VOA if you are eligible. However please double check with the Qatar Government Helpline at +974-44069999 or [email protected].

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Hemin, You can apply, but normally they would keep it on hold if sponsor is outside Qatar. If they didn’t check that it may be approved.

  6. Hi team,
For A1 visa is there any restriction for Indians? Because I did apply on 28th September and it’s still under pending for close to 2 weeks. Is there a hope that the visa would get approved or do I Cancel the Visa because I have my travel planned in next 4 days. I can’t keep hoping for something that I am not sure of.

  7. My mother is a Pakistani national and hold a valid US visit visa, I have applied for her in A3 category, in the section of residency document I have uploaded her Pakistani National Identity card, is it fine? or I had to upload her US Visit visa in this section.
Secondly how much time does it take for approval of A3 visa.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Salwat, You should upload her US Visit Visa on the residency document section because her A3 visa is issued based on the US visa. Nowadays there is a delay in approvals for Hayya visas. So we can’t predict when it would be approved. You can contact Hayya Support at [email protected] or (+974) 4441 2022.

    2. Hello Salwat, just catching up on your mother’s visa status, did she get her visa approved yet or not? how many days has it been? I am also planning to apply on Visa A3 category, need an estimate please.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Hemin, You can try applying without cancelling. If you get a message that “previous visa exists”, then you have to cancel Hayya.

  8. Hello Team,
I am a Nigerian living legally in the UK. I applied for the A1 visa instead of the A3 Visa. The application has been pending for about 12 days now. My question is do I have to cancel the application to do a new A3 application or can my Hayya Visa still be rightfully processed under the A1 Category as a Nigerian. All efforts to reach out to the Hayya team for a solution has been unsuccessful. I’m due to travel in early December. Kindly assist.

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi AbiOg, Since you have already contact Hayya helpline, you can try contacting the Qatar Government Helpline at +974-44069999 or [email protected] and check if you can get visa on arrival (using your UK residence visa).

  9. Is there any restrictions for Kyrgyzstani citizens? I applied for A1 visa on 27th of September still nothing:(, I have my new passport, before that I was in Qatar with A1 visa in June 2023 and got approved within 6 hours, I applied second time in the same hayya account but changed my passport details do u think it might be the problem?

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Ullanbek, Unfortunately there is a delay in A1 visa since last 2-3 weeks (for most countries). Only Hayya helpline can do something.

  10. My son reached on 28/9/23 on A1 tourist visa and got extension for another month (thru moi portal) easily without any additional Insurance policy purchase. My wife reached on Oct 3 but when I tried visa extension it says “Health Insurance data not found/invalid. Please purchase Insurance policy” . How come this happen? What do I do further for her visa extension ?

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Suresh, Many others have faced the same error this month. Seems like MOI has updated the system. You can buy a one month insurance for QR 50. Make sure to enter the visa number during purchase.

  11. Hi.
Could you please update if the hayya with me is extended till march.
my spouse is in Qatar under hayya with me. Is she can stay until march or she have to exist before Jan 24.

Hi Abdul, There is no restriction on Hayya A1 visa for Indians. We know many applicants who were approved in September (Some were delayed, but some were approved quickly). Only Hayya With Me is suspended for Indians.

  13. I have applied since 21st of sept. and i didn’t hear back and today is 28th of september. i’m concerned that i don’t get it as I have reserved my flight and accomdation on the 2nd of october. have anyone been through the same situation??

    1. Hi Hagar, We assume you have applied for Tourist Visa (A1). Sometimes there is a delay in approval, especially for some nationalities that require security screening. That is why Hayya portal has specifically mentioned do not book flight tickets until your visa is approved. You can contact Hayya Support at [email protected] or (+974) 4441 2022.
