Qatar has made its tourist visa services accessible online for individual travellers and tourism-related businesses to facilitate visitors’ access to the country further. Getting a Qatar Tourist Visa is much easier with the online official service.
The service, created in partnership between the Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Airways, and the Ministry of Interior, offers an efficient and transparent visa application system with standardized fees for each visa type.

Qatar Tourist Visa Eligibility
Nationals of 242 countries can apply for a visa through this service (currently suspended).
Please note that nationals of more than 90 countries are eligible for a free visa on arrival in Doha. You can apply for Tourist Visa only if your country is not on the list of eligible nations.
Requirements for Tourist Visa Application
All applicants must have a machine-readable individual passport valid for at least six months from the date you enter Qatar (You will not be able to apply using this service for children endorsed on their parents’ passports).
To complete the application, all applicants require clear coloured electronic scans of the following:
- Passport information (bio page) /picture page(s)
- A passport-size photo
- Airline Ticket ( Qatar Airways passengers are not required to submit their ticket copy)
- Hotel Confirmation Voucher / Relevant documents for a place of stay in Qatar
If you’re a GCC resident, you’ll also need to provide:
- GCC residence visa
- GCC ID card
- The sponsor’s ticket and passport copy (for GCC Nationals / Residents Companion Entry Permit only)
NOTE: GCC residents can also apply for visas on arrival if their profession is included in the list of eligible professions.
Qatar Tourist Visa Cost
The cost of the Qatar Tourist Visa is QAR 100 (USD 27) for the main applicant, QAR 50 (USD 13.50) for each accompanying person, and QAR 200 (USD 55) as overstaying fine per day. Tourist Visa holders can stay in Qatar for up to 30 days on a single trip.
Should I use only Qatar Airways for my travel?
You can use any airline to Doha. There are no restrictions on the mode of travel. The e-visa platform is linked to all airline booking platforms, including the national airline, Qatar Airways.
How to Apply for Qatar Tourist Visa Online
Step 1: Go to the Qatar Visa Service website
Sign up or Sign in using your email and password.
Step 2: Fill up the online application form
You must fill in basic details like name, nationality, date of birth, contact details, etc.
The system automatically selects your visa type based on your length of stay in Qatar as per your itinerary, nationality, and country of residence.
Step 3: Upload all required documents
Documents required include:
- Passport information (bio/picture page)
- A passport-sized photo
- Airline Ticket (Qatar Airways passengers are not required to submit their ticket copy)
- Hotel confirmation voucher / relevant documents for a place of stay in Qatar
Step 4: Pay the required fees and submit a request
The portal only accepts payment using a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card.
Step 5: You will receive status updates in your email
You will receive status updates via email. You can also log in to the portal to track the status online.
Step 6: The e-visa will be sent to your email
Once the visa application is processed, the e-visa will be sent to your email. The average timeframe for a response is 48 to 96 hours from when all of the applicant’s documents have been received.
Visitors travelling with Qatar Airways may select ‘Apply for a visa’ after logging in to ‘My Trips’ on the airline’s website. This automatically directs them to the Qatar Visa Service website, where they can start the Qatar Tourist Visa application process for themselves and any accompanying travellers under the same booking.
- Applications can be made a maximum of 90 days or a minimum of four (4) working days before travel.
- The passport should be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of entry in Qatar.
- It is not possible to use this service while applying for children who are endorsed on their parent’s passports.
- Visa holders are not allowed to work in Qatar during their stay.
VFS is responsible for processing Qatar Tourist visa applications through its website and will also collect payment for your application. All inquiries regarding your visa application should be made directly to VFS.
The online visa portal eliminates the need for hard copy applications to be submitted in person at the Immigration Offices as was previously required.
The portal also has special features dedicated to tourism businesses, such as the “add to cart” option allowing businesses to complete multiple applications simultaneously, making it easier to handle large groups through bulk payments.
The information above is relevant when applying for a Qatar Tourist Visa. This differs from the 96-hour Qatar Transit Visa, which applies to short stays in Qatar and is offered free of charge.
