This article explains the eligibility conditions, list of professions eligible, visa fees, duration of stay, etc., about Qatar Visa On Arrival for GCC Residents.

Recent Updates

01 OCTOBER 2022 UPDATE: We have updated the list of eligible professions according to the new list on the MOI website. Please check the updated list of professions below.

21 SEP 2022 UPDATE: From 1 November to 23 December 2022, visitors’ entry into the State of Qatar will be restricted to holders of Hayya Card only. Visit visa services will be suspended during this period. The following categories will be excluded from the Hayya Card requirement:
– Qatari citizens, residents and GCC citizens holding a Qatari ID card
– Holders of personal recruitment visas and work entry permits
– Humanitarian cases through the airport (based on the approval from the official application platform)

1 SEP 2022 UPDATE: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced a new travel policy which will come into effect on Sunday, 4 September 2022, at 6 pm local time. This article has been updated to reflect these changes.
* Quarantine is no longer mandatory for all travellers arriving from abroad. However, if passenger tests positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Qatar, quarantine measures must be followed as stipulated by the State.
* Country classification based on COVID-19 risk (Red List and Standard Health List) is no longer applicable.

Since the mid of July 2021, Qatar has resumed visa-on-arrival services to citizens of 90+ countries. Please check our complete guide on Qatar’s Visa On Arrival scheme for more details.

Residents of GCC countries, who are employed as qualified professionals, and those accompanying them can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 30 days in Qatar.

However, it is important to note that the visitor should arrive from their country of residence in GCC.

For example, an Indian national who is a resident of UAE should be travelling from UAE, not from India. If he travels from India, he must meet all requirements for Red Health Measure countries. Below are the conditions for issuing the GCC Residents visa:

Conditions for Qatar Visa On Arrival for GCC Residents

The visa will only be issued if you meet all the below conditions:

  • The passport should be valid for at least three months from arrival.
  • The visitor should have a valid residence permit card issued by any GCC country (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia or UAE).
  • The GCC residence permit should be valid for at least three months from arrival.
  • The profession (as mentioned on the residence permit card) should appear in the below list.
  • The visitor should have a return ticket.
  • The visitor should have a confirmed hotel reservation.

Qatar Airways has listed the following documents also. However, these are not always asked for. It would be better if you could have them:

  • Official evidence proving business in Qatar (in case of business visits).
  • A letter issued by a sponsor in Qatar showing the sponsor’s name and telephone number.

Vaccination & Quarantine Requirements

The new travel policy, effective from 1 November 2022, will be as follows:

  • All travellers are exempted from Quarantine (unless you test Covid positive).
  • All travellers are exempted from Covid Testing.
  • All travellers are exempted from Ehteraz pre-travel registration.
  • Ehteraz mobile application is only required to enter health centres.

You can learn more about approved vaccines, vaccine validity and quarantine policy here.

Visa For Accompanying Family & Staff

The GCC Residents Visa is also available to accompanying family and personal staff. The accompanying person (if any) should be under your personal sponsorship and have a residence permit valid for at least three months.

The visa fee is QAR 100 for the main applicant and QAR 50 for each accompanying person.

GCC Residents’ Visa Fees

The cost of the GCC Residents Visa is QAR 100 (USD 27) for the main applicant and QAR 50 (USD 13.50) for each accompanying person. Fee payment should be made using a credit or debit card.

The fine for overstaying is QAR 200 (USD 55) per day.

Validity and Extension of Visa

The visa on arrival is valid for 30 days and can be extended for a maximum of three months by paying QR 100 per month for every additional month. The visa can be extended at any Ministry of Interior Service Centre.

What to do if your profession is not on the list?

If your profession is not on the above list, there is no guarantee that you may receive a visa on arrival. If you have relatives in Qatar, they can apply for a Family Visit Visa.

In addition, Qatar has a free visa-on-arrival facility for citizens of more than 90 countries. You can read more about it here: Qatar Visa on Arrival: Complete Guide.

How to Apply for GCC Residents’ Visa

The following are the steps to get for GCC residents visa:

Step 1: Check if you meet the requirements

The most important thing is to confirm that your profession is listed in the approved list.

Step 2: Book your flight and hotel

Confirmed return flight tickets are required for a visa on arrival. A regular hotel booking for the duration of the stay is also required. You can cancel or change this booking after arrival in Doha.

Step 3: Apply for Ehteraz pre-travel approval (optional)

The Ehteraz pre-travel registration is now optional for GCC citizens and residents.

However, we highly recommend all travellers eligible for GCC Resident Visas register for Ehteraz pre-travel approval. A pre-travel approval would prevent potential issues at the departure airport and provide you peace of mind. There have been many incidents of travellers without Ehteraz approval being denied boarding by airline staff.

If you are doing the registration, make sure to do it at least three days before travel. You can do it up to 7 days in advance.

When you apply for Ehteraz approval, upload your GCC Residence Card to confirm your profession.

The following documents are required for Ehteraz registration:

  • Passport
  • GCC Residence card (with profession mentioned)
  • Return Flight Tickets
  • Hotel Booking (normal hotel booking)
  • Vaccination Certificate (if vaccinated)

Step 4: Do the Covid Test

RT-PCR testing should be done within 48 hours of travel, or Rapid Antigen Testing should be done within 24 hours. The test result need not be uploaded during Ehteraz registration. Instead, it can be shown during check-in. Minors aged 0-5 years are exempted from COVID testing.

Step 5: Travel to Doha

The visa will be issued on arrival if you meet all the above-mentioned requirements.

Documents Checklist For Travel

During travel, the following documents are required:

  • Passport
  • GCC Residence card
  • Return Flight Tickets
  • Hotel Booking
  • Vaccination Certificate (if vaccinated)
  • Covid Test Result (RT-PCR or Antigen)
  • Ehteraz approval (not mandatory if vaccinated, but highly recommended)

Make sure to check our detailed guide on how to register on the Ehteraz website for pre-travel approval:

  18. Hi, I am a UAE resident under my father’s sponsorship, so on the VISA, it’s mentioned as a student. I hold a Bangladeshi passport. I am eligible for VISA on arrival to Qatar right?

And for vaccination, I have taken 2 doses of Sinopharm (Feb 2021) and 2 doses of Pfizer (Dec 2021). I cannot take any more shots as declared by MOHAP, UAE. So I have 4 doses total. Does that count as immunity?

    1. Doha Guides Team

Hi Wardah, if your last Pfizer dose was in Dec 2021, you are considered immune. For GCC Residents’ Visa On Arrival, the rule says “accompanying family members” can get visas. You will have no issues if your father is travelling with you. If you are travelling alone, you need to check with +974-4066 9999.
