As you celebrate the joyous occasion don’t forget to complete the official formalities related to childbirth. Registering your baby’s birth and getting a Qatar Birth Certificate is pretty easy if you do them step by step.
As per law, every child born in Qatar should be registered with the Ministry of Public Health. For those who are preparing for the birth of your baby, this article explains the steps, documents, fees and other details about Qatar birth certificate.
Why Birth Certificate is Important
A birth certificate is a government-issued document that contains information about a child’s name, place of birth, gender, and parents’ names. The birth certificate provides formal recognition by the state of a child’s birth and is a permanent and official record of a child’s existence.
All babies born in Qatar must be registered and provided with a birth certificate. It is also required at the time of applying for the child’s Passport or a Residence Permit and even for school admission in the future.
NOTE: Children born to foreign nationals are not entitled to Qatari nationality. Expatriate parents are also responsible for registering their child’s birth with their home country’s embassy.

Hello,
Me and my husband both works here in a different employer (sponsor). I am soon to deliver our baby on November in WWRC. I just wanted to check if there is any Salary requirements to sponsor our newborn child? Thank you in advance.
Hi Kate, If the child is born in Qatar and both parents are working in Qatar, salary requirement is very relaxed. Mother will be the sponsor, but they will consider the salary of both parents. Here are the details: https://www.dohaguides.com/qatar-id-for-a-baby-born-in-qatar/
We both are having QID. I delivered in India. For getting QID how many days before we have to enter in Qatar.
Hi Thomas, (i) If mother is under father’s sponsorship and your baby enters within 2 months of birth the baby can get newborn visa at the airport. With this you can easily apply for QID.
(2) If your baby is entering between 2 and 6 months, they will issue visitor visa. This means you have to apply for RP on Metrash and complete all process (like new RP visa). First option is easier and cheaper.
Hello. My husband works here, we have qid. I delivered here in wwrc. How can I get a birth certificate online if I refused from vaccination? But I need the copy of vaccination card? What is Birth notification? Where I can get it?
Hi Olga, Birth Notification is the form you get from hospital where you delivered. Please contact the Birth Registration Office regarding vaccination queries. Contact numbers are in the article.
Hi all!
My wife gave birth yesterday, got the MoPH birth certificate today – process itself is very user friendly and fast.
However, can anyone advise what is the exact process and required documents to apply for the newborn’s RP? I only understood I need the passport, but couldn’t find no other official reference on neither the MoI nor the Hukooki websites.
Hi Alex, Congratulations! Once you get the birth certificate, apply for the passport. After you get the passport get the QID request form typed from a typing center. Visit any MOI Service Center with the form, blue background photo, birth certificate, baby’s passport, parents passports and QIDs. You will get the QID issued same day. You may also do this on Metrash, but recent users have reported some issues. We will check in detail and do a post soon.
I’m pregnant and resident here in Qatar
Delivering my baby here
What is the procedure if my husband doesn’t have QID and his also not in Qatar? His working abroad as Seaman, no chance to be here during the delivery. Please advice, thank you.
Hi Kay, Please check directly with the hospital. Normally they would accept if you have marriage certificate and husband’s passport.
