Qatar Health Card Renewal Online: Step By Step Guide (2020)

Qatar Health Card Renewal

Health care services in Qatar are available to citizens and residents at a heavily subsidized rate at government clinics and hospitals. These subsidized services can be accessed using the government-issued Health Card, popularly known as Hamad Card, referring to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

This article explains the step by step process for Qatar Health Card renewal.

Advantages of Qatar Health Card

The Health Card entitles the holder to subsidized consultations and prescriptions. Consultations or non-emergency treatments may cost extra but will be subsidized for those who hold a valid health card. Holders of a health card can also have their prescriptions filled at a government-run pharmacy at subsidized rates.

People with private medical insurance are also encouraged to apply for a Health Card in case they need to visit one of the government facilities.

Unlike other government-issued cards in Qatar, Health Card does not have the expiry date printed on it. The expiry date is updated in the online system. Even after you renew the card, you will not be issued a new card and you can continue to use the old Health Card.

Before renewing the Health Card, you may want to check the expiry status of the card. Below is how you can do that:
