Mesaimeer Religious Complex

The Mesaimeer Religious Complex is a plot in Abu Hamour allotted by the Qatar Government to construct six Christian churches. Each of these churches caters to different denominations.

Three out of the six are different types of Orthodox churches. There is also Malankara Orthodox Church within the Inter Denominational Christian Church (IDCC).

The St. James Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church is a church in the Mesaimeer Religious Complex, Doha. It is one of the churches under the Holy throne of St. Peter of Antioch and the East.

The foundation stone for the church was laid in January 2006 and the consecration ceremony was held in February 2009. The church mainly serves Jacobite Christian believers from India. On the second Saturday of every month, the church celebrates a festival.

Malankara Orthodox Church, Doha

Malankara Orthodox Church Doha (MOC Doha) was built by the members of St. Thomas, Mar Gregorios and St. Mary’s parishes of Doha. It is part of the Inter Denominational Christian Church (IDCC) in Mesaimeer Religious Complex.

The foundation stone for the church was laid in December 2005 and the consecration ceremony was held in 2009. The church building, which can accommodate up to 1500 people at a time, has a build-up area of 1968 sq. mt.

Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria is an Oriental Orthodox Christian church that serves Africa and the Middle East. It is considered the largest Christian denomination in Egypt.
