About Mesaimeer Religious Complex
In 2005, the Qatar Government allowed the construction of six churches on a plot of land in Doha’s Abu Hamour area. Currently, the six churches in the Mesaimeer Religious Complex are Roman Catholic, Anglican, Greek Orthodox, Syrian Orthodox, Coptic, and the Inter Denominational Christian Church (IDCC).
Recently two more denominations – Maronite Church and Evangelical Churches Alliance Qatar – were also given permission to build churches near the Religious Complex. Several smaller denominations also hold their services under the umbrella of one of these recognized churches.

Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church
Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church in Qatar and the first one to be opened in Qatar. The church is located at the Mesaimeer Religious Complex in Doha, which also hosts other Christian churches.
The 2,700-seat church was built on land donated by Qatar’s Father Amir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at $20 million. The church was opened to the public in 2008. Out of respect for the Islamic laws in Qatar, the church’s exterior does not display any Christian symbols like crosses, bells, or steeples.
It is estimated that the church serves around 200,000 Catholics residing in Qatar, most of whom are migrant workers from the Philippines, India, South America, Africa, Lebanon, and Europe. The church was visited by Britain’s King Charles III in 2014.

The church offers Holy Mass in English, Arabic (Latin), Tagalog, Malayalam, Tamil, Konkani, Sinhala, Italian, French, Spanish, Korean, Indonesian, and Urdu. You can see the mass schedule here.

St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Church
The St. Thomas Syro Malabar Church is a Catholic church within the Inter Denominational Christian Church (IDCC) complex (Building No. 4) in Mesaimeer Religious Complex, Abu Hamour.
The church’s foundation stone was laid in 2005, and the dedication was held in May 2009. The church is built on an area of 770 square metres. The balcony within the church measures 365 square metres.
The church of St. Thomas Christians is an Apostolic Church founded in India by St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Christ. Knanaya Catholics of Syro-Malabar Church claim their origin to Thomas of Cana and the 72 families that migrated to Kerala in 345 A.D. from the land of Syria. Today Syro Malabarians are found mainly in the southern state of Kerala and the big cities of India.

St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church
The St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church is a Catholic church within the Inter Denominational Christian Church (IDCC) complex (Building No. 7) in Mesaimeer Religious Complex, Abu Hamour. The church was consecrated in April 2009.
Today, St.Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church Doha is a fully-fledged Church with a membership of about 150 families and an equal number of bachelors. All activities and Eucharistic celebrations of pious organizations of the Church like Catechism, Parish prayer meeting units, MCA, MCYM, Mathtrusamaajam, and Nurses Prayer Meetings are held regularly.
